Countdown to FASHION

As Fashion is racing towards completion, we wanted to treat our readers with an interview of lead actress and journalist, Natasha Rai. All questions have been asked by readers of our site.

Q. While I respect your right of privacy, there seems to be a lot of different opinions about your personal life. We have seen pictures and articles from the TrollyGossips site stating that you are living in with your boy friend. Yet, some of your close friends insist you are still single and ready to mingle. Can you clear the air once and for all?

Natasha: My roommate is my friend and well wisher. We started in terms of relationship but we soon found out that we are not cut out for that and we decided to remain roomies and friends. He is a medico and has helped me and my family and we appreciate him. As for Trolly Gossips statements and pictures, all I can say is that the site is someone’s job and means of living and I have to respect it.

Q. You have enjoyed long innings in Trollywood and are undoubtedly among the top 3 actresses today. Are you planning to retire after marriage or continue to work in films?

Natasha: Yes, I definitely have enjoyed my time and work in Trollywood so far and I have got the love and support of my loyal fans. I got the opportunity to work with veteran actors and directors and I have made few good friends and sisters here. However, I have come to a point where career is not everything for me and I am longing to start a family. So to answer you, I think I will retire after marriage or do some very meaningful films only once in a while to keep my acting passion alive.

Q. I am a loyal fan but felt a bit disappointed about your role in Race. Frankly, you looked very over weight to play that modern character. I am anxiously awaiting Fashion, where you are playing a supermodel. How are you preparing for this character and will you be able to match up to your size zero contemporaries? Please do not disappoint your fans this time!

Natasha: I agree with you. Even I was disappointed in myself in Race. The stills I had shot for Race promotion somehow was on wrong angle or the dress had a wrong flow. Whatever it is, the result was not right and I took myself to Jenny Craig, and regular workouts to be leaner. I am not aiming to be size zero as I donot find that attractive either but I want to remain within the right body mass index and I am in that frame now. As for Fashion, I do like Meghna’s role very much and just like me she also had to work on her weight to be supermodel. I intend to do justice with her role and looks.

Q. I was wondering if you have knowledge about your R rated pictures all over the internet. Are these authorized by you? Please clarify.

Natasha: Haha... if only all the nude pictures of Desibaba and some junk sites were real, those sites would have been sued and closed a long time ago. From Aishwarya Rai to Deepika Padukone to Natasha Rai, you will find nude pictures morphed and created on sites to satisfy your eyes and if someone is trying to cash in on that, it’s the lowest and dumbest thing they could do.

Q. I loved your work in Devdas and feel that you should work on a sequel with Malini Malhotra. Would you be willing to re-create the magic of Devdas for another Bhansali classic?

Natasha: No matter whatever the personal differences I had with Malini, She is one actress I enjoyed working with as we had great vibe and chemistry on screen. We created our looks and shared makeup tips and dresses for Devdas which audiences really approved. We both acted in several films together and grew up as actresses. I enjoyed working with Bhansali immensely and if he is making another classic and if the role suits me, I definitely will sign it.

Q. What happened to your articles? They are sorely missed. I keep logging to the site to read your articles but don't find them there. Are you writing for another site?

Natasha: I am under an exclusive contract to act for BP Productions and am an exclusive reporter for its Tfare site. There is no question of writing for another site. I have written some articles for Tfare keeping my readers in mind. I got good and bad comments on the articles which I appreciate as long as they do not get too personal. With many reader's requests, I have written spring and summer fashion article “The Heels” which should be available on T-Fare shortly.

Q. On the eve of Rajiv’s farewell, please describe what he meant to you and how you are coping with his sudden passing? Can you tell us about what kind of relationship you shared with him?

Natasha: I still cannot believe Rajiv is no longer with us and I still have not got over this shock of my life. He was my co-star and we worked together in many films like KANK, Laaga Chunari and the classic Silsila. He did his best role in Silsila with his wife Malini where he absolutely looked great and did a fantastic role of a good husband. Though I never got to spend time with Rajiv in person, he means a lot to me as a friend and a family in Trollywood who I cared for but who I would never see again in my life. He has been terribly missed.

On July 6 Rajiv Malhotra passed away peacefully at a Sacramento hospital at approximately 4:30 AM. Rajiv was spending the weekend with friends in South Lake Tahoe for the holiday weekend. He was on his way back to his brother's home in San Francisco when his car collided with a deer at high speed of approximately 70 miles per hour. Paramedics arrived at the scene approximately 10 minutes after the incident and Rajiv was flown to a nearby hospital. Shortly after his arrival at the hospital, Rajiv went into coma and was put under life support. He is survived by his wife, Malini Malhotra, father Raghuveer Malhotra, mother Sheila Malhotra and brother Saagar Malhotra. The entire family and some of his close friends were with him while he peacefully passed away on Monday morning.

T-Fare fondly remembers it's interview with Rajiv, less than a year ago where he mentioned that he "was lied to, manipulated, misled, scammed and believe it or not even spelled! I used to cry and almost lost my mind when this happened." We can't help but wonder if this had anything to do with his sudden death at such a young age. In any event, we hope that all his family, friends and fans will find comfort in knowing that he was extremely happy in his marriage to Malini. Throughout his interview, he praised his wife's loyalty, character and sincerity. To those who doubted his own character and sincerity he offered this rebuttal "my successful marriage with Malini speaks loud and clear about my good intentions and good character."

Finally, T-Fare founder AL Bhansali made this statement on behalf of T-Fare and hundreds of Rajiv & Malini's fans - "To the Malhotra Family - We are deeply saddened by your loss. We will forever cherish the memories of the times we spent together with Rajiv. We stand with you during this time of grief. To all of Rajiv & Malini's well wishers - We are allowing unmoderated comments so that Rajiv and Malini's well wishers will have the opportunity to express their condolences. We hope you will not disrespect Rajiv's memories by misusing this service. Thank you."

We are continuing coverage of the Malhotra family's tragedy. According to reliable sources, funeral services have been arranged in the East Bay area on Saturday, July 11. Rajiv's relatives are pouring into the SF Bay area from Canada, India, Australia and the United Kingdom to show their support. The funeral will honor the life of Rajiv Malhotra and only close family members are welcome by invitation only. According to our source, very few friends have been invited - especially from the GLBT community.

During the funeral ceremony, Shiela Malhotra, Malini Malhotra and Raghuveer Manhotra will be speaking and a slideshow will be shown to guests with Rajiv's lifetime in pictures. Both Saagar Malhotra and Monisha Malhotra will be in attendance but will not be speaking at the ceremony. Following cremation, ashes will be taken to Canada and dispersed in Horshoe Bay, per Rajiv and Malini's wishes. Rajiv is known to have spent the best part of his life in this area.

On condition of anonymity, a reliable source indicated that "Sheila Malhotra has been the rock of this family. While she is absolutely devastated, she is trying to stay strong and is taking care of her husband and daughter in law. Malini is undoubtedly going through the most painful time of her life. We are scared because she does nothing but cry! Saagar and Monisha are also trying to put their differences aside and remain strong for the sake of Rajiv's wife and parents."

Yet, several questions remained unanswered. Many fans seemed to be disappointed that the Malhotra family has not been approachable for condolence or flowers. Even the private nature of the funeral has been criticized by some friends who wish that they could be involved in the ceremony. Finally, it was not clear weather Rajiv left behind a will and where his parents will be living after their son's funeral. Some relatives believe that they were very close to Malini and will be staying at her Horseshoe Bay penthouse. However, the Malhotra family has not yet made any official announcements.

The mood was emotional, yet cheerful as family and friends bid final farewell today to Rajiv Malhotra. All guests arrived by 10:00 AM and celebrated the brief but meaningful life of Rajiv Malhotra. Malini choked up while describing Rajiv as "a wonderful friend, dutiful son and the most loyal husband that any woman could ask for!" Shiela Malhotra described several incidents from Rajiv's childhood that brought a smile on people's faces. However, it was Rajiv's father Raghuveer Malhotra who stunned many friends by revealing his family's closely guarded secret. After thanking everyone for coming and being a source of support, he introduced his grandson and Rajiv's son - Rahul Malhotra! Born on March 22, 2009 Rahul is the only son of Rajiv & Malini Malhotra; and the only grandson of Raghuvir & Sheila Malhotra.

T-Fare was the first to break the news of Rajiv & Malini's child. However, the Malhotra family had kept the birth of their sole heir a closely guarded secret until now. The child explains everything including the reason why Raghuvir & Sheila Malhotra will be heading back to Malini's home in Vancouver - to care for their grandson! They would never have been able to live apart from the grandchild that Rajiv left behind for them!

While this can never substitute the loss of Rajiv's life, news of his baby boy will surely come as great news and pleasant surprise to hundreds of well wishers of Rajiv & Malini.
